Boardwalk
The boardwalk is a long, sprawling straight shot lined almost entirely with food, tourist attractions and rides. With the beach on the other side, it's a common destination for fun and a good place to go for cheap food (or if you want a low-paying part-time job). There's funnel cakes, cotton candy, fried everything, corndogs and game stands that are carefully crafted to make sure you'll never quite get your money's worth in prizes.
As far as the rides go, there's not a whole lot for the thrill seekers -- there's no roller coasters around. But there is a ferris wheel and some other various carnival rides that are easy to maintain, and evening passes aren't too expensive.
Severn River
A wide, deep, and lazy river. The Severn River primarily runs north to south, but cuts east through El Sera and ends at the Atlantic Ocean. The river is fairly cool year round and relatively free of pollution, given it's proximity to the city. Boating is a popular pastime and the waterfront properties are high in both demand and price.
Downtown
El Sera has a medium-sized downtown, with a handful of skyscrapers belonging to banks and other corporations. Some of the smaller businesses close early in the day, catering largely to the business side of things, but there's a multitude of other shops that are open late -- or all night.
Downtown is where you'll find the bus station as well as the train station. There are some scattered bars, ranging from seedy to extremely nice, as well as various restaurants with the same range. Aside from the night life scene, there's new age stores, specialty shops such as wig shops, nail salons, and boutiques, and used bookstores.
More than anything, downtown has a lot of hotels, ranging from the cheap chain hotels to the considerably nicer hotels designed for wealthy tourists and travelers on business. Most have pools and restaurants, and they're another prime place for employment, depending on your qualifications and what pay grade you're seeking.
Historic Downtown
Separated from the main downtown by the Severn River, the primary difference aside from location is that the historic district is generally older construction. There are numerous older buildings around, from cathedrals to old hotels and historic houses that have been converted into museums. There's quite a bit to do in terms of museums, and there's a few old theatres that are all still in use for stage plays and musical acts.
The shops here tend to be of a slightly more exclusive quality, and the restaurants follow suit. There's a trolly system that will take you around downtown for a low fee, stopping at all the relevant areas that you could want to go to. There's also a budding ghost tours section, with guides that will point out all the things that have reports of the paranormal.
The Landing
The Landing is a medium-sized, two-story shopping center located on the riverfront of historic downtown. It has a lot of different stores and tends to be the place that everyone will head to for their more upscale shopping. From books to clothing to restaurants, it's all there. There is a large and open garden cafe on the roof, a high class establishment that nevertheless has affordable food and snacks even for a student budget. The Landing is a good place to look for employment for enterprising students.
In addition to the cafe, there's a bookstore, a variety of clothing stores and boutiques, a hair salon, a pet store, a handful of new age stores, and various specialty retail stores such as toy stores and cultural shops. You can find most of the things you'd need in either the landing or the nearby stores.
The Xochipilli Building
The tallest structure downtown, standing at over 600 feet tall. It has 64 floors, the top fifteen of which are actually used entirely by Xochipilli. Within the Xochipilli-owned segments of the building there is a magical ward, welcome center, and training room for the magical boys, as well as the mission center and even some legitimate office space.
Xochipilli Academy for Boys
The Xochipilli Academy is the local Academy for the magically inclined -- though that's not exactly what everyone in the town thinks. To everyone else, it's simply an exclusive school filled with exchange students and transfers. Near the middle of the city, it doesn't utilize gates or walls to keep anyone out, though there is a security detail.
