// Character
Name:
Canon: Please include a link to a wiki article on the canon
Canon Point: Please keep it concise! Halfway through book 4; end of A New Hope; Chapter 37; etc
Age: If your character's apparent age is different from his actual age, please make a note.
Sex: If your character's physical sex does not match his gender, please note so here. Otherwise, erase this field.
Appearance: A link to an image is fine. If your character is visibly non-human, please link to both his normal form and the PB/fanart you mean to use for his normal form

Magical Item:
Magical Boy Form: If your character does not already have a magical boy form or equivalent, please select one of the ones detailed on the powers page. If your character has any non-magical girl or Super Sentai transformations, like being a werewolf, you may include elements (like wolf ears and a tail) of such in his magical form. Otherwise, link to his canon form.

Personality: At least 3 paragraphs, though you can write more. You should be thorough, but try to be concise as well! Be sure to explore of your character's major personality traits, touch on the motivations behind them, and make note of some of his goals, fears, aspirations, wants, needs, flaws, and merits.

Powers: List and describe all of your character's powers, making sure to note which you feel could be used outside of his magical boy form.

// Sample
First Person Sample: This is meant to showcase your character's voice and how he'll interact with others on the IC network. We vastly prefer that you link to a thread less than six months old from a meme, previous game, dear_mun post, PSL, or our test drive meme, though you may write a sample from scratch if you prefer. If you choose to write a new sample, please write it as if your character has already been in the game for some time and has been able to settle in. Do not write an intro-style post. You may use one of the prompts below to help you come up with a sample.

+ Your character is hosting a party downtown and making an announcement about it
+ Your character has been blackmailed into revealing something about himself other people might consider disturbing.
+ Fire at the landing! Your character is warning people away from approaching the chaos.
+ Your character has discovered something insidious about some major organization in the town -- the school, the movie theater, even Xochipilli itself! Time to reveal it to everyone.

Third Person Sample: 200+ words. This is meant to showcase your ability to write your character's voice, actions, and thought process in a coherent matter. Prose or action brackets are both fine. As with your first person sample, you may link to a previous thread. You may use the same thread as your first-person sample if it is a log or prose-in-action-brackets style log.

If you have been in the game for a month or more, you do not need to include a third person sample, though you may do so if you wish and it's encouraged if you're submitting a challenge app.

Are you over 18?: Yup.

// Character
Name: Kain Highwind
Canon: Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy aka Duodecim or Dissidia.
Bonus: Kain's Dissidia page and FFIV page, because his FFIV past still plays a part in his Dissidia storyline.
Canon Point: Middle of An Undocumented Battle (before arriving at the Manikin portal)
Age: 21
Sex:
Appearance: Full body render. Don't be fooled by the purple streams coming from his helmet, they're a lie. This is what he looks like without the helmet. See? The hair is really an attachment to his helmet, and his hair is actually blond, not purple.
Magical Item: His lance (in EX Mode/magic form, it will be like this-- the blue one on the left). When not in use, it will become a necklace like so, but purple and the pendants shaped like the heads of his lance.
Magical Boy Form: I assume EX mode is okay for this? Don't worry about him looking too off for the magic thing-- he has a lot of sparkles in EX Mode.

Personality:
At first glance, Kain looks intimidating, he really does. With what he wears and how he acts, it's not surprising that some would prefer giving him a wide berth when they pass him by on the street. They're not exactly wrong because Kain does hold himself properly, exuding a calm, collected, demeanor with a military stoicism, and he's never been one to wear his emotions on his sleeves. He's just not the expressive type, really, which may make him seem cold and sometimes condescending or completely uninterested in being open with other people.

However, that's not completely right. Sure, he's not going to greet people in an overly friendly manner and shake their hands, but that doesn't mean he's a snobbish jerk who doesn't care. He's just distant because he's been working hard towards his goals since he was a child-- get better than Cecil, make Rosa notice him, live up to his father's memory as a dragoon-- leaving little room to actually socialize and develop his people-skills outside of a military or combat situation. This is so ingrained into his character that even without memories of his father and his childhood, Kain is still very aloof in Dissidia.

But in all honesty, Kain does care, and he does have a good heart under all the layers of Tortured, Lonely Young Man™. After all, he took on his father's legacy as a dragoon and even cared for the man's dragon despite all those memories of his strict way of bringing up his son as a single father (though some would call this thing daddy issues, especially when Kain hated him before), and he proposed that he and Cecil save a little girl they didn't know from her burning village despite having started the fire themselves. Those events certainly count for something even though he can only vaguely remember them, right?

Really, the only real coldness he shows is to people he dislikes or those he perceives as actual enemies, and even then, there's no overt change in his demeanor. He only becomes more arrogant, and his sarcasm will become more biting-- Kain is still calm, cool and collected even when angered and it's difficult to get a rise out of him, but he will fling insults with a deadpan tone, and it burns quite a lot if you're not prepared for it.

Kain's got his heart in the right place-- but it can be argued that he can get swept away by his own bottled-up emotions that he tends to do crazy things because of them. So yes, Kain does feel, and sometimes all of those feels can make him impulsive and do something stupid. Thankfully though, he's working on that “something stupid” part, because he doesn't want to hurt anyone like that again.

It's not that he's just plain dumb, no. In reality, he's pretty damn smart. Hell, almost everything he does is carefully calculated to get a particular result, barring outside forces or unexpected complications. Besides, it's pretty rare that he'll go flying off the handle like that, and Kain's usually very well put together, with a good head on his shoulders and a charismatic air that urges people to listen to him, no matter how crazy his schemes are-- the Warrior of Light listened and he's one of the most lineface-y of characters ever.

In fact, a lot of his plans revolve around keeping other people safe. In his home realm, he struck a deal with the enemy for Rosa, and in Dissidia, he didn't want his comrades falling at the hands of the enemy so he started knocking them out so he would do battle on his own. And he has the determination to do so because even if things aren't looking his way despite planning or if people think of him unhinged or a traitor, he continues to work on and changes plans accordingly.

However, don't mistake his willingness to be a meatshield as sacrificial tendency. It doesn't mean he'll gladly lie down and wait to die-- he'd make the other party the sacrificial lamb instead, and join his comrades for another fight. Kain is just willing to do what others cant or will never even think of doing, so that the people close to him don't have to. See? He really does care. ... Sometimes a little too much.

Another overlooked side of himself is his way of interacting with people he's comfortable around-- get him to relax enough and you can see that he's witty and has a sarcastic sense of humor, capable of spouting lines such as "He may be a Prince though his mouth betrays his true nature" with a straight face. Hell, in Dissidia 012, despite having no memories he doesn't change, saying "A battle with the world on the line... not bad" when facing the final boss in the game's Battle Mode, showing just how strong such dry wit is in his character.

Really, he's just a very complicated and layered person, and it's usually because he lets himself be overshadowed by other, brighter personalities that a lot of Kain's personality doesn't have many chances to shine, making him seem two-dimensional instead.

Powers:
In Dissidia, powers are split into two categories: Bravery moves and HP moves. Bravery attacks are those that steal points (or strength in non-gaming terms) from the enemy's own Bravery to add to the character's counter, and these points are used up in HP attacks, which actually damage the enemy. There is also an extra set of moves Kain gets when in EX Mode, which is a special mode that gives him a power boost, much like Limit Breaks in other FF games.

Bravery
SPIRAL BLOW: A forward charge that knocks the enemy all the way back into a wall.
CYCLONE (ground): A blast of wind from the twirling of Kain's lance that knocks the enemy off their feet and sends them towards Kain.
LANCE BURST: A forward dash to stab the enemy with the lance, followed by a kick that knocks them into the air.
LANCE BARRAGE: From the air, two slashes followed by either a forward charge with multiple stabs or a single slash to knock the enemy into a wall.
CRASHING DIVE: From the air, a downward slash to either follow up with either another slash to knock the enemy away or crash them down onto the ground.
CELESTIAL SHOOTER: An upward rush into the air to either push the enemy further up or knock them away.
CYCLONE (air): A blast of wind from the twirling of Kain's lance done in the air that pulls the enemy towards him.

HP
JUMP: SUPER JUMPING POWERS A leap into the air followed by a dive-- lance-point first-- into the enemy on the ground. As Kain's signature move from FFIV, I think it's appropriate that he be able to use this outside of his magic form, even though it wont be of much use. idk, maybe just to get a boost to bound to high places. If this is not okay, I can remove it.
DRAGON'S FANG (ground): A throw to impale the enemy on the lance, but can only be used in short-range.
GUNGNIR: A lance throw from the air that knocks the opponent across the arena, and is stronger the farther Kain is from his target.
SKY RAVE: A downward charge that knocks the enemy out of a jump and does more damage the further down Kain goes.
DRAGON'S FANG (air): A short-ranged lance throw from the air to an airborne enemy.
RISING DRIVE: An upward charge that knocks the enemy out of a dive and does more damage the further up Kain goes.

EX Mode
LANCET: An HP attack that has Kain stab at an enemy from above and restores some of Kain's HP equal to the HP lost on the enemy's part.
DRAGOON'S PRIDE: A much more powerful version of Jump, which leaves a beam of light through the enemy that explodes when Kain withdraws.

Note: For this RP, as Kain's EX Mode will be his magic form, I've slapped together a system to make sure he wont be spamming overpowered moves like a madman. Kain will still be able to use HP moves, but much like in Dissidia, he wont be able to do damage with them unless he uses Bravery moves-- and just using Bravery moves wont finish off the enemy. There will be no actual Bravery stat, just me only allowing him to use an HP move after using Bravery moves an X number of times, and if he uses an HP move, the counter will be reset, just like in the game proper. Think of it as softening the enemy up before the main event.

Here are the values for X I've come up with:
Jump: 2
Gungnir: 2
Dragon's Fang (ground): 4
Sky Rave: 3
Dragon's Fang (air): 5
Rising Drive: 5
Lancet: 6
Dragoon's Pride: 6

To keep with the power levels system the RP has, here's the (tentative) list of moves and the levels Kain will regain them at:
1 (aka start): Spiral Blow, Cyclone (Ground), Lance Barrage, Crashing Dive, Jump, Gungnir
2: Sky Rave, Celestial Shooter
3: Lance Burst, Dragon's Fang (ground)
4: Cyclone (air), Dragon's Fang (air)
5: Rising Drive
6: Lancet, Dragoon's Pride

If this is not okay, or if he's too powerful even at level 1, I can shift things around to be more acceptable for the RP.

Other: (If possible, he'll be keeping these abilities outside of his magic form.)
PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Kain is strong. Really strong. As a Dragoon, his forte is aerial combat, so you can imagine just how much leg power he's packing. And because spears and lances are heavy (take it from someone who's handled those things before), he's pretty strong overall.
SPEED: His actual running speed is nothing fascinating, but when he puts that leg power to use aside from jumping, he can execute short but very quick dashes and dodges.

Are you over 18?: Yes.

// Character
Name: Ryu
Canon: Breath of Fire IV
Canon Point: The end of Chapter II
Age: Appears to be in his late teens/early 20s, actually both less than a year old and about 600 years old, as well as ageless. Take your pick.
Appearance: Derp

Magical Item: The King's Sword (despite the fancy name it's not that great of a weapon, but he has it)
Magical Boy Form: Well he already has a transformation, but that's a bit extreme. So if it's okay I'd like to keep the horns and the wings, and give him the black slacks/black vest/white dress shirt combo with a red bow tie. He will be super confused. Also a red mask.

Personality:

Ryu has a generally pleasant personality. He doesn't talk a lot, unless you start talking to him first, and does have a fun-loving side, as demonstrated by his love of fishing. All this cheerfulness does hide another side of himself. If he's in one of his dragon forms, he's more likely to go berserk and attack things indiscriminately, and the stronger the dragon form the more likely this is. He's still very unsure of his purpose, and mentioning "purpose" to his face might get him to stop and think for a moment, and maybe wonder what he's intended for.

While wandering around during the course of the game, he doesn't have any memories at all, and so doesn't know very much of the world outside of what he's seen directly. His main motivation is more clearly stated in the manga, where he speaks more, and his dreams are shown where he is chasing after an unknown figure (which he later learns is Fou-Lu). He's even asked who this person is and what kind of person it is, and even where this person is, but he just doesn't know. All he knows is that he has to meet this person, because he's "always felt him calling". Since he doesn't really know who or where this person is, he travels with Nina and Cray to help them find Nina's sister. Nina is a very close friend to Ryu, able to calm him down from even a blind frenzy, but he holds no romantic feelings for her. She likes Cray, and Ryu wouldn't ever want to do something that makes his friends upset.

Emotionally and mentally, he's like a child. He knows the difference between right and wrong in a vague sort of sense – basically, killing people is wrong unless absolutely needed – but doesn't completely understand concepts of appropriateness like "don't peek around the rock when the girls are bathing", "watch where you put your arm when you fling it out", and "people get embarrassed/frustrated/flustered/angry when you don't put clothes on". He rushes into things, even going so far as to jump off a cliff to try to save Nina (and landing face first) because he didn't realize she had wings that she could float down on. Most of his expression is in his body language, so even if he doesn't say that he's, for example, upset or angry or something like that, it's fairly obvious from how he stands, because he doesn't really bother to hide his feelings. He doesn't really see a need to, since lying isn't something the really occurs to him. Tact is also not his strong point, for the same reasons.

Powers:

Out of magical form:

- Strong against fire attacks

- Burn (type: fire; deals a weak amount of fire-based damage to one target.)
- Douse (type: power down; lowers target's resistance to fire-based magic.)
- Spray (type: physical; physical attack on one target, damage based on defense. Deals extra damage to insect-type creatures.)
- Snap (type: physical/power down; attack versus one target, decreases defense power)

He also has the "Dragon's Eye", which occasionally grants him with prophetic dreams (though I am fine with this part being totally nerfed in-game), and a innate ability with animals, letting him tame things that aren't normally tamed (though if they're very wild he wouldn't be able to).

Magical boy powers:

- Ability to turn into dragons. At this point in his canon he only has the Aura and Kaiser forms, described below. Appearance is this except for breath attacks.

Aura Dragon:
(Decent increase to HP, bit of an increase to attack and wisdom, slight increase to defense.)
- DragonBreath (type: breath; six non-elemental hits, divided among multiple enemies if applicable; affected by defense)
- Flame Strike (type: melee/fire; physical fire attack)
- Hwa (type: fire; level 1 fire magic on one target)
- Rejuvenate (type: holy; medium healing of one target)
- Barrier (type: lv. up; magic damaged halved for 3 turns; also reduces the effect of healing spells and stat-boosting spells)

Kaiser Dragon:
(Excellent increase to HP, good increase to attack and wisdom, decent increase to defense and agility.)
- KaiserBreath (type: breath; sixteen non-elemental hits; depends on current HP)
- Aura Smash (type: melee; a critical hit that ignores defense)
- Hwajeh (type: fire; level 3 fire magic on one target)
- Ahryu P'ung (type: wind; level 3 wind magic on all targets)
- Patoh Pah (type: earth; level 3 earth magic on all targets)
- Resurrect (type: holy; revives an ally with full HP)
- Sanctuary (type: holy; removes ability boosting spells on all foes -and- allies)
* His Kaiser form is currently uncontrollable, and as such would only be used in absolute dire emergencies/could be totally locked away.

[There's a bright and shining face on the network. Ryu's pretty excited about something, at least.]

Hey! Um, I thought I should let you guys know - I'm having a party down at the boardwalk! Or, well. I'm celebrating my birthday. We don't really have stuff like this where I'm from, so I thought it would be a good place to have a party.

I'd really like it if you guys show up - I'm going to be getting a lot of food anyway, and I'd be happy to share it with anyone! I'll be there starting at about two in the afternoon. You can probably find me near the cotton candy.

[It's good, okay?]

That's all for now!

[He waves, and ends the post.]

Third Person Sample:

Monsters were one thing. Modern 'conveniences', however, were another.

One of the problems coming to this place was culture shock. Not that Ryu would call it that, but still, some of the things here were really confusing - such as the item he was staring at right now.

The microwave in the cafeteria was making strange beeping noises, and he wasn't sure what they meant. Maybe if he pressed this button -

The machine came to life with a hum, and he jumped back, staring at it suspiciously. What kind of magic was this? He didn't understand it at all. The thing was making even stranger noises as it continued...

Nina would have probably known what this thing was, or at least have been able to figure it out - but Ryu was still puzzled as the thing made crackling noises. ... Was it supposed to be doing that? He wasn't entirely sure.

"What are you doing?" Ryu blinked and whirled around as another student stood behind him, staring.

"N... othing... trying to figure this thing out?"

There was a loud crackle from the machine, and Ryu turned around, eyes widening. "Oh! It makes fire!"

The other student raced over and pulled the plug, shutting the machine down. Ryu tilted his head slightly in confusion.

"Oh... it's not supposed to?"

He opened the thing again, blowing a little to put out the flames. The shiny paper he'd put inside was blackened and charred. He frowned. He'd have to try and see what it was for another time.

REVISION - PERSONALITY

He doesn't really see a need to, since lying isn't something the really occurs to him. Tact is also not his strong point, for the same reasons.

Normally, he's very easygoing. Much of the time he's in a good mood, especially while traveling and exploring new things. He takes most information about himself in stride, considering that he didn't really react that strongly when told he was a god. The rest of the party seems to look towards him for decisions, because while he does have a tendency to rush into things, that's generally only if things are critical and someone needs defending. While he's not the greatest tactical mind, he has a way of calming others around him. He just doesn't see a need to get worked up, and whether that's because of ignorance of the consequences of what's going on or because of his general nature, he seems to put people at ease.

The Yorae Dragon, the dragon he was summoned as part of, is the "Dragon of the Future" - capable of great good or great evil. It matters who's directing the power to determine what that is going to be. Due to the botched nature of the summoning, though, Ryu is very much his own person. His other half developed independently of him, and so Ryu has the opportunity to as well. He knows that he can protect people - he's done so with his friends and with a number of the people they've come across - but while he's slow to truly anger, when he does get angry, it's terrifying. While if he's only mad, he might just fight someone, when he's furious, it's awe-inspiring, and in the old sense of 'awe' where people are brought to their knees. The amount of power he has is not meant for mortals to experience directly, and his godly wrath is generally only directed at those who have performed crimes against a number of people for no reason and especially against those who cannot protect themselves. He cannot stand seeing anyone tortured or killed, and children especially are a trigger point for him. Not only does he lose control of himself at this point, but his enemies are likely to be wiped off the face of the planet.

// Character
Name: Will Graham
Canon: Will Graham, Red Dragon, Hannibal
Canon Point: Season One, Episode 8/9 (Before Will's been scanned.)
Age: 30ish
Appearance: Here
Magical Item: ...a magical gun... Will carries an M1911
Magical Boy Form: 'Special Agent' ; Black slacks, a black vest, and a white dress shirt.

Personality:
LONER. The circumstances of Will's life have led him to a lonely existence. He never knew his parents, whether they died or abandoned him is probably something he hasn't wondered in a very long time. There isn't a longing for them and his caretakers are never really mentioned, he didn't have a particularly close relationship with them either. His childhood seems to have been spent on a number of fishing boats, growing up poor and never staying in one place for long, no chance to make friends. He doesn't really try to now. There's a hesitancy to, the feeling that he's afraid to open up and then have them it all ripped away from him. He expects that, in a very self-denigrating way. He doesn't feel like he has very much to offer anyone.

ANTISOCIAL. Will's antisocial behavior, however, is slightly more purposeful than his lonely upbringing. Will is very highly attuned to the people around him, so small acts of pettiness or inconsideration strike him much harder than they do to others. He's a sensitive soul, and the way he keeps himself from being battered is with a severe outer facade. Sarcasm is frequently a defense mechanism, but can also frequently be a sign of frustration frustration. He can understand others' motivations so well, but most are not good at understanding him. It gets tiresome, and it only makes him more irritable to have someone clumsily trying to analyze him. He doesn't like it, it's painful to him, like a botched exploratory surgery.

INTELLIGENCE. Even though most people focus on Will's empathy, he's also incredibly intelligent in his own right. He isn't egotistical about this, he's usually polite about explaining to a layman. Except when that layman cops an attitude with him, in which case Will's wit comes out. Not all of his sarcasm is out of anger and he can really be quite sassy.

In the book Red Dragon, Will is known for some of his academic writings and is counted among other top authorities in the field. (Unfortunately it's on insect patterns on corpses...)

DRIVE. Despite his childhood and the uncomfortable gift of his 'power', Will has still always been determined to serve and protect others. He got himself into the New Orleans police department, and he put himself through George Washington University, the same private school Jacqueline Kennedy attended. He would have been an agent if he weren't deemed unstable, he doesn't let that missed opportunity stop him. He still works to help the FBI by teaching at the academy, demanding strong analytic skills from his students. When the FBI calls on him, he goes to crime scenes unflinchingly because he has trouble sleeping at night knowing he did nothing to help. This is how he defines his life, in service to others.

DEVOTION. Even though Will is afraid to open himself up to others, it isn't an impossible task. He has close relationships with several other people in the show, and in the end this is why he continues to harm himself by using his empathy to solve crimes. He doesn't want to lose Jack, Alana, and Hannibal by giving up, and he doesn't know how else to honor Abigail than to try to stop people like her father from harming others. She's said she wants to join the FBI and follow in his footsteps, he thinks it's a bad idea but also understands why. Respect is something that matters to Will, quite a bit. Not in an egotistical way, but in a common courtesy kind of way. Jack respects his abilities in a way no one else does (everyone else thinking it freakish) and both Alan(a) and Hannibal have also shown him more than just professional courtesy and have offered him both certain kinds of intimacy, as well as the personal space Will so craves. These are Will's closest relationships, and yet he is never comfortable sharing all of himself. He would still die for any one of them.

FEAR. Sometimes, Will feels like he can inhabit others better than he can inhabit himself. This is what leads him to protect others and care for others, it gives him a sense of purpose where otherwise there would just be despair. Psychopaths have that same despair, however, and he understands the gruesome ways in which they fill it. He understands it far too well, and they appreciate him for it. They know how it feels to be so misunderstood. It scares Will to understand that, and it scares Will that he could lose his moral footing in the trance of one of these madmen; to lose his virtues. He's afraid to lose himself, and is kind of constantly in the middle of an existential crisis.

MORBID. ...Will is a little morbid. His chosen career path influences it quite a bit. However, other agents are able to leave their work and live normal lives. For Will that isn't the case, it comes home with him. He's very aware of the brevity of human life, and even despite his drive to save others, he's not an optimistic man. He sees the worst in everything, that's what he's good at. That's what he does. It haunts him, and anyone who talks to him can tell he's haunted. As much of a brave face as he puts on, and even if he doesn't let it stop him (because it doesn't), the scars are there in the open.

ANIMALS. Will connects very well with animals. He is able to apply the same empathy to them, but the motivations of an animal are never as dark as the motivations of a human. It doesn't cause Will the same pain. He takes in nearly every stray he comes across, which also exhibits his continual drive to help others. The love he receives from his animal is also a lot safer than trying to get it from people, frequently it seems a lot more genuine too.
Powers:
Will is already an empath, able to put himself into the thoughts of feelings and others based on the 'residue' they leave. (For example, he is unable to analyze a crime scene after it has been cleaned up.)

He is especially good at understanding psychopaths, and it's commented by Alan(a) Bloom that Will's incredible imagination is a double edged sword. Meaning Will can make seriously horrific images in his mind. I think he should be able to project those nasty things at others. Nightmare bullets out of his magic gun.

I would also say for the sake of clarity that he would also have upped stats in magical boy form. Just the basics: more agile, a little faster, can withstand a bit more damage (although he's a ranged unit, so not a tank.)

Third Person Sample:
Crowded rooms ache, too much stimulation at one time. Sights and smells and sounds that all come together in a horrible synesthesia that Bloom calls empathy and Will calls autism. Self-deprecatory, unable to see what his mind does as a gift because of the loneliness it has given him. The loneliness of realizing he saw what so few could, the realization that he would never understand anyone so well as he understood the dark-eyed menace that lurked in everyone, but flourished in only the select.

The first time -- (that menace) -- he saw it was on the docks of Barataria, watching a sober man beat a dog to death. Will had understood it then, there was no blind rage to the act, no drunken misdeed. That man had looked down on that animal as an insignificance, disdained it, and reveled in his own ego to stomp down on it again and again. Had Will stepped out of the shadows, he knew he would just as easily been treated the same.

Perhaps that was why he was so attracted to dogs now. Or perhaps it was the simplicity of their intentions, their needs. A roomful of dogs did not cause that seething caustic ache. And... he could take care of them. Somehow, his self-definition became wrapped up in death -- (warped by it.) Thinking like a killer. Tracking down killer after killer. Taking down a killer -- (When he had a knife to a girl's neck. Sawing. Still time.) Insect patterns as they devour a corpse... But the dogs. He could feed them. He could brush and bathe and hold them. Wash his hands of death, wash his mind of clutter -- (But the dogs were still no comfort against the nightmares. The bright sting of infection.) -- They forgave him. They did not stare at him, disturbed by him and his cold piercing eyes that looked through masks and into hearts and minds. They did not poke and prod at him, fascinated by his 'gift,' wanting to make use of it. They did not hover over him, concerned by his empty stare and controlled breathing; wondering if his mind was crumbling.

Unconditional love and support. There's a part of him that still believes he might find it in another human. There's a part of him too cynical to believe. And the rest of him is petrified that what will love him best will be something dead inside, sober-minded as evil deeds and dark thoughts flow.

Are you over 18?: Yes.

// Character
Name: Teito Klein / Wahrheit Tiashe Raggs.
Canon: Teito Klein; from 07-GHOST.
Canon Point: c93.
Age: 16.
Appearance: It should be noted that he is tiny. As in, he is approximately 5'1, or 156cm. Tiny.
Magical Item: His magical item will be the Eye of Mikael; a small, red orb that houses an angry Archangel. Mikael will be housed inside a bracelet, similar to this, and go inside Teito's body properly when he transforms.
Magical Boy Form: At level one, he'll be in the simple outfit of black slacks, white dress shirt, and a black vest, with a pair of white gloves to match. As he levels up, his magical boy form will grow more ornate! At the maximum of level 10, his access to Mikael will be fully unlocked, which will allow him to have fluffy white wings, such as here. In a more detailed account of his leveling, by the second level his vest will become a crazy back-corset robe; the third level will add the mantle on top! The fourth level will add green trim; the fifth level will add a stylish golden head crown! The sixth will add more ornamentation across the trim, detailing the Raggs Requiem in golden font; the seventh will see his boots level up to better boots with tiny Burupya charms on the straps; the eighth will have his sleeves shorten and gloves become slightly more prominent; the ninth will have the entire black of the outfit invert itself to white, and the tenth will allow him to have ~wings~.

Personality:

Teito is, first and foremost, angry. He's an incredibly traumatized teenager who tends to project all of his anger outward, and then still prove that he has enough left over to hate himself too. Teito had his memories modified when he was a child, causing himself to forget large portions of his past and believe that he was a church orphan. After this, he was taken and kept as a slave, branded and collared, and used to fight and kill other people, from criminals to children his own age, merely for training, battle, or other people's entertainment. Because of this, he began to funnel away most of his emotions, even forgetting how to smile for a long period of time. While he's since began to open up, and remembered his relatively happy early childhood, he still retains a large amount of this trauma, and it influences everything he does.

Teito spends a large amount of time dwelling on things and blaming himself for things. He shows that he doesn't like the fact that he dwells on things, but he finds himself incapable of stopping. He has a very low sense of self-worth, though he does have some degree of confidence: he knows that he's very skilled in fighting, and he knows he's intelligent. It's simply that he's let his best friend get killed, forgotten everything about himself twice now, and a whole mess of other things that Teito can use to tell himself how much of a screwup he is. Because of this, he has a high degree of selflessness -- he'll willingly sacrifice himself for others. His main goal throughout the series is to go to heaven and exchange his life for Mikage's; he later sacrifices himself to keep the Eye of Mikael from malfunctioning and letting out Verloren's Body or harming other people. Despite his penchant for brooding, Teito does have a sense of humor. It's fairly mild, and most jokes you make to him will fall flat, but he smiles and means it on numerous occasions -- generally when people prove themselves to be his friend.

Teito is also an incredibly flawed character in terms of weaknesses. He's incredibly reckless with himself, due to his low self-esteem, but he frequently reacts in ways that put the people he loves in danger, too. He's very quick to anger on certain things, and is in complete denial of others. It's not hard to manipulate him based on his emotions, simply because he reacts so obviously and without hiding them. While he might have tried to react to most things with a cold exterior for a long time, it was largely due to the way he managed to shut his emotions down. With the influence of Mikage, they all came back, from happiness to anger, and it shows. He's fairly emotionally stunted in a lot of ways, and frequently shows that he doesn't know how to deal with his own emotions.

Despite his frequent rage outbursts, Teito is also a very warm and caring individual. He manages to win over a variety of people in canon (including a frighteningly large amount of blonds, for some strange reason), including those who generally are hard to befriend. He manages this largely because he's incredibly stubborn, very hardworking, and as much as he might try to hide it, very soft-hearted. His training as a battle slave taught him to show no mercy, but even after years of that abuse, he still finds himself incapable of killing other people just because they've done something wrong, even if they've done something to hurt him directly. The only person he's shown any real inclination towards killing in the entire series is Ayanami, and only then when he snapped into a murderous rage brought on by all of his memories returning. He shows sympathy to most people, and even when he can't understand their motivations, he still admits that and is capable of forgiving them and encouraging others to do the same. Even when he's abused by people directly, or when they do things he finds objectionable, he can forgive them -- even if they don't apologize. He also has something of a maternal instinct, as shown when he and Frau wind up half-adopting a slave named Capella until they can find Capella's mother.

Powers: Teito's canon powers convert relatively neatly into a magical boy setting. Firstly, for his magical boy transformation, he simply unlocks the power of Mikael in a flash of zaiphon, then properly transforms into his outfit. There might be sparkles. Witnesses have signed NDAs.

Regardless! Teito's powers in canon are based around zaiphon and Mikael, which easily convert into a game setting. Most of Teito's abilities are offensive, centered around exploding things and people, using his attacks to bind people, and sometimes jumping really high. His attacks will start out small, and quickly progress in power as he levels them up. Most of his attacks will still utilize zaiphon, in that the distinctive blue writing will be present, leaving marks in whatever they hit, be it a person or the ground. At higher levels, the amount of damage he can do quickly increases, as does his ability to utilize Mikael -- Mikael does not need to use zaiphon but can simply utilize offensive magic, as well as more forms of sealing magic.

Are you over 18?: yes

// Character
Name: Suzuki
Canon: Flat
Flat (also known as Flat; You Asked For It!) is a slice-of-life manga with a very basic storyline and plot, revolving around the life of a boy named Heisuke who has suddenly found himself occasionally in the care of a small cousin of his named Aki. As the story progresses, Aki and Heisuke's relationship develops little by little, and at the same time, the reader is introduced into various parts of Heisuke's regular life, most specifically his friends and his experiences in school.

Canon Point: end of volume 4
Age: unknown, most likely 15-17
Appearance: Manga + Fanart (note: about 167-168cm)

Magical Item: A simple fire opal pendant.
Magical Boy Form: Black slacks, red dress shirt and a black waistcoat on top with a red ribbon tie. Black knee-length boots with red laces. His eyes also change color to red.

Personality: Commonly enough, a group of friends usually has a person who acts as the glue of the bunch, the one with a stable head on their shoulders that helps keep the ruckus to a minimum and provides the voice of reason when everyone else shoves their hands into their pockets and shrugs. Suzuki is this person, and he does a very good job of it. With an almost naturally stoic exterior, Suzuki is a pro at stepping up and voicing his opinion when it's most needed. Though he appears quiet and neutral, he actually does a very good job of pointing a finger in the right direction and expecting others to follow along, because there's usually never any chance that he isn't right or that anyone else will be able to make the correct choice anyway, especially considering the fact that within his close-knit group of three friend, he happens to be the most capable of them all and certainly the one that acts the most like a soon-to-be adult.

As level-headed as Suzuki appears though, he has a surprisingly short fuse over certain subjects, mainly being his best friend Heisuke and, ironically enough, the concept of friendship itself. Heisuke is just about the complete opposite of Suzuki; lazy, irresponsible, scatterbrained and prone to following the beat of his own drum even when he very well should be following the rest of the band. Because of Heisuke's lethargic personality, he tends to never do the things he's meant to do and only ever focuses on one thing, the passion of his life: baking. It's usually Suzuki's job to grab his friend by the collar and force him to take some responsibility in his actions and focus on things like schoolwork and even properly taking care of Aki, and when force doesn't work, words tend to be used as much as possible. At first glance, Suzuki seems more than verbally harsh toward Heisuke and even Satou at times, being the more mature of the two and constantly having to handle their abstract paces in life. It almost makes you wonder how he can even manage to be friends with anyone that isn't as outwardly staunch and calm as he normally is, and it even makes you question just why Suzuki has chosen to make someone like Heisuke as his friend since middle school.

With an admitted quick temper and lack of patience for people who don't follow the norm, what even makes Suzuki a good friend to have? It's the fact that he understands the meaning of friendship and takes the bonds he has with people very seriously that makes Suzuki a good friend. Suzuki is very much aware of the flaws of people that are close to him, and though he outwardly criticizes them and tries his best to try and correct them to where they're not as much of a nuisance to himself and others around him, Suzuki never sees these flaws as a truly negative thing. People are all different, and Suzuki knows that embracing these flaws are what friendship is all about. In fact, when people question why he ever decides to associate himself with someone like Heisuke, whether it be a teacher or a fellow student, Suzuki becomes very confrontational and upset, not understanding why others feel the need to speak up about something that he feels is none of their business or that they don't understand like he does. Suzuki is the type of person that does not hide his opinion of others, but if he likes you, he truly genuinely accepts you as a person, and if he happens to befriend you, he holds that friendship very highly. Blunt, unconstrained honesty is the root of what makes Suzuki who he is, and though this may make him seem either like a mean-spirited person who's quick to tell you what your problems are or someone who appears rather gullible and overly accepting of a few apparent bad apples, it's the way Suzuki wishes to be, and no one can tell him to be any other way.

Powers: Suzuki has no real powers to begin with, so upon arrival into the game he will be gaining fire-based elemental powers due to the "firey" sort of personality he secretly has. The weakest form of Suzuki's powers comes in the form of a small flame he can produce from his fingers, something akin to the fire from a lit match. This is what he is capable of using outside of his magical boy form. Once transformed though, his fire capabilities can increase depending on his emotions. The more passionate he is during a fight (whether through determination or anger), the stronger his flames can become.

First Person Sample:
Listen, I'm going to say this once and only once, because I really don't like repeating myself. There's a kitchen here for a reason. You know, people use it to cook and make food. Having snacks around is handy and all, but when you eat enough of them that you empty out the entire vending machine, that doesn't really leave anything left for the rest of us. [ Suzuki sighs in exasperation. ] If you've got no experience with cooking or anything then just ask someone to teach you. Or make a sandwich. Those are easy, even little kids can do them.

And don't give me some sort of excuse like, "Well that's what midnight snacks are." Only idiots use that excuse. [ Idiots like his best friend. --in fact speaking of... Suzuki pauses before lightening up from his little lecture. ] If you need help, I can get it for you, since I know someone who's decent at cooking. Baking, actually. They're not a pro but they're better than nothing.

...even though I know you could find a way better teacher. But, just offering.

Third Person Sample:
"I wonder if this is what college is supposed to feel like," Suzuki mumbled quietly to himself as he continued flipping through page after page of what was probably the 5th textbook he'd managed to gather in the last hours or so, barely able to understand a single thing he read through. The words were too technically and the thoughts being expressed to him felt too scattered and abstract for him to get a handle on, and it was with a defeated sigh that he shut the book as quietly as possible and hauled it up off the table, setting it aside in the pile he'd accumulated of books that deserved to be put back on the shelves and not checked out.

Four on the left, and one on the right. Suzuki stared at the different piles before rubbing at the back of his neck. This solo study session he'd decided to take on wasn't turning out as well as he'd hoped it would. It was difficult to get a handle of the concept of having special abilities, but Suzuki knew that that he wouldn't get himself anywhere by trying to stumble on how to use them by sheer instinct. No, that was something that other people would do, people who had no sense of reasoning. "Like certain people who like cake too much," he muttered grumpily before sighing and standing up, heading back over to the section of the library he'd decided to spend his time looking through. He'd been given fire abilities, so he needed something about basic combat skills and... well, anything to do with using fire, but everything he seemed to find wasn't of any help at all. Maybe he should have sought out advice on what to look up? Or maybe there was already a selection of books for beginners like him, he just hadn't been able to find the right location on where they were put.

Catching sight of a certain book, Suzuki pulled it out of its shelf and looked over the front, raising an eyebrow at the title.

'Magic for Dummies.'

He shook his head, then promptly placed the book back on its shelf. "Picking that out would just be embarrassing. I've got to have some kind of pride here."

Are you over 18?: yes. very much so

// Character
Name: Heisuke
Canon: flat;
Canon Point: end of volume 4
Age: unknown, most likely 15-17
Appearance: strapping young blonde, if I do say so myself

Magical Item: Cupcake Ring []
Magical Boy Form: White top, sleeveless, collared with two rows of pale blue buttons down the front, straight-cut and somewhat similar to a chef's shirt, lined along the bottom with a pale blue row, along with a thin ribbon of the same blue tied at the collar. A small, pale blue cape attaches underneath epaulets at the shoulder, falling down to his waist. The pants are white slacks with pale blue and yellow star designs on the fabric. Shoes are white trainers. The outfit also contains white gloves.

Personality:
Heisuke is a man of many talents and none all at once. He has the inherent ability to sleep in all day, for as long as he can, and with as little guilt as possible. He's never been one for productivity, nor has he really been one for the drive to do something himself. He doesn't motivate himself for much at all - more often than not, it's bribery, blackmail, or his mother's simple threats that get him to move his butt into gear, and even then he moves slowly. He never had too difficult of a life, so he never truly had to push himself to strive for anything - the idea just doesn't seem very worth it to him. He's had a case of OnlyChilditis, in which the world only revolves around whatever he wanted it to, which rarely had much impact on others. It was to the point where he'd spend his classes skipping to nap on a bench or just going home before classroom duties were over because he didn't feel like helping. As a teenager, he feels as though it's his god-given ability to contribute as little as possible to the workings of the everyday. Of course he does chores and things, but never without a bit of bribing or blackmail from his mother. Normally in the forms of punishment... which he ignores when she's out.

However, he's slowly beginning to make changes on thinking about others. With the consistent presence of his cousin, Aki, Heisuke has not only been gaining childcare experience, but he's been learning about taking notice of others and watching what he says. Aki is a very sensitive boy, so Heisuke's always fumbling over his words or doing something that upsets his quiet cousin. He's learned to read moods more, finally picking up the habits of trying to see how a person reacts due to what he says. Aki is a very, very quiet child, so speaking out when something bothers him isn't his first choice--but when he's even quieter, more withdrawn and shy, especially after Heisuke says something mildly harsh but meant lighthearted, he can be in a depression for days. With children, it's harder to be sarcastic or harsh, and while his older friends blow off those behaviors, his cousin dwells on them. Heisuke, after numerous incidents of completely doing the wrong thing, began to watch his own diction when speaking to see which jokes were okay and which ones weren't.

Even though he's trying, he's still not perfect at it. Stricken with an awful case of FootInMouthitis, which is only worsened by his OnlyChildItis, he tends to say things that he doesn't mean to be as upsetting. For example - he called Aki a blanket-thief to his mom when they had shared a bed one night, and when he came down with a cold from not caring for himself further, Aki blamed himself for the incident. Thankfully, Heisuke learned from it as well - well, he dwelled over it for days, wondering if Aki vwas dwelling over it, and even comforted the child crying when he was in bed with a fever. He tends to do this with his friends as well. He says things he doesn't always mean as harshly as they come out, and his two buddies tend to scold him whereas others may just think him cold and somewhat uncaring.

The sad thing about Heisuke is that he doesn't always understand how his calm and dismissive demeanor tend to make him seem to others. He's very aloof when it comes to situations like that, often just thinking like "well if it was me, then I'd..." as opposed to empathizing with others. When he had been given a love letter, his reaction to it, as he didn't return the girl's feelings, was not to just tell her no but to ignore it altogether. He had assumed that it would be okay, up until he was pretty much nagged at and called out by his best friends, Satou and Suzuki. His only response, when he finally decided to confront the girl, was to tell her that he wasn't interested in the letter at all and hadn't replied faster because of it.

Heisuke has a knack for baking. Even at such a young age, he excels at making sweets and Home Economics is his favorite class. On the days when they don't have Home Ec, he feels depressed, and he's known for skimping on his classroom duties when he doesn't get to practice in the kitchen. His best friends Satou and Suzuki already take advantage of his fondness for sweet things and they tend to bother him into making them sweets, punish him by making him owe them sweets, or invade his house and demand he be a good house help by making them sweets. Hell, he 'befriended' Satou by the theft of his own cake... and his laziness, but mostly the cake.

Powers: Dream-traveling: During slumber, Heisuke's soul will be able to travel about. He'll be able to visit others in their dreams--briefly, at first, but he'll gain the abilities to interact more with the dream and stay in another person's mind longer, while they're asleep. Further along, he'll be able to invade another person's mind while they're awake. He'll also become a spectral version of himself for traveling between and across the waking world, but he won't be able to communicate with others in this form.

The weaknesses that come with this will be how long he stays in another person's mind or how much he's traveling while asleep. The longer he's out of his body, or the farther his spirit travels, the harder it becomes for him to return to it, so the risk of coma and even death become evident. He also won't be able to have much ability on interacting or influencing the other in a tangible form until practice.

// Sample
First Person Sample:
[Why did people give him this task? Assigning Heisuke to do things and communicate with others was just... Well, judging by the completely disinterested look on his face, it didn't seem like the best idea.]

So, uh. There's going to be a party at my house. This weekend, around seven? I... really, I don't care whenever you want to show up, I'll be home all day.

Just... let me know if you wanna come early, so I'll be awake to let you in.

[Sounded good enough--wait. He looks off to the side, trying to go through a mental checklist. And then:]

Oh yeah. I'm baking a cake for it, and some snacks. Mom left me in charge of that... And, uh. You can bring family and stuff if you want, that's okay. [A nonchalant shrug.] Just, uh... let me know if you're coming or not, so I know how much to fix. Saturday, six at night... or was it seven?

...yeah, just show up whenever.

Third Person Sample:
It was raining. It was raining and that cake was ruined. Honestly, Heisuke had been heading back to his classroom after lunch, but he couldn't help but spot the ruined pastry from the second floor window. It was abandoned on a bench, a small, half-eaten roll cake, still sitting tucked into the packaging. The lunch downpour had been sudden and even Heisuke couldn't escape a few drops landing on his shoulders and in his hair on his way to the door, but that poor cake didn't stand a chance.

It was truly heartbreaking, an attack to the heart in the simplest and truest of forms. What was worse: he had baked that cake, packaged it himself in this cute wrapping he had found, and his best friend stole it from him. (Alright, maybe 'stole' was a harsh word; it was meant for Suzuki, after all, but he hadn't expected him to actually take it from his backpack instead of waiting for Heisuke to give it to him... eventually.) But he had spent his afternoon the day before baking that treat and it was absolutely ruined.

...Well, it wasn't as though he hadn't baked a few more at home, but still!

Heaving a heavy sigh, Heisuke turned and headed towards the locker rooms. The sight of a drowned cake was enough to depress him enough to abandon class for the afternoon. This was all Suzuki's fault, and that poor cake... that poor, poor cake. Heisuke couldn't have looked any more depressed.

Are you over 18?: Yes

// Character
Name: Julien
Canon: Dragon's Dogma |*|*
Canon Point: Post "Pride Before a Fall", imprisoned in the Duke's dungeons.
Age: 33
Appearance: Full body | Close-up

Magical Item: A ring that's a miniature of his magic shield. The band of the ring is twisted, to (somewhat) resemble the shape of his mace. Upon transformation the ring seperates and morphs into his proper weapons.
Magical Boy Form: His "Night's Champion" armour and mask.

Personality: Julien is a complex man. At first glance his bearing perfectly reflects his station as a knight. He is eloquent and educated, he is courteous, patient, and treats those under his command with generosity. He works diligently and he shoulders responsibility well. He is confident and reliable. One soldier calls him half-fox and half-lion -- as great a diplomat as a warrior. He is widely considered noble not only in blood but in character too.

This is all consciously cultivated by Julien, and while not untrue, it is far from the whole story. He possesses a much darker, unpleasant side.

Julien is a reserved man, and while he is thought well of, he keeps himself and his true thoughts apart from others, carefully distanced. Clever as he is, he understands the power of reputation, and makes great use of it to keep himself above suspicion. The truth is that he is a calculating, highly perceptive man, with a talent for strategy, and he wields his good reputation as a shield with precision.

Julien wholeheartedly believes that his duty as a knight is to serve the people, dedicates his life to doing so, and values mercy highly. His conviction never falters. Yet he is no longer an idealistic man, though he was once so – life in the corrupted, decadent and self-preserving court of Gransys while the impending threat of the Dragon loomed shattered that, leaving him deeply jaded. He is a realistic man at best, and a pessimistic one at worst. Hope is not beyond him, but he is reluctant to hold any without cause to, and he has lost all inclination to have blind faith in anything.

Though his ends are good, Julien's means can be unflinchingly cold and cruel, calculated to have the most effect. By his own words, he believes: ''Tis a sorry truth that righteousness is a rare luxury in war', and he is fully aware that others will regard his actions as those of a villain. He is an honest man and he does not lie, but he acts in secret as the "Night's Champion”. He is a man true to his word when he makes a vow, yet he breaks an ancient pact between his home country, Voldoa, and Gransys when he sees the head of Gransys as irrevocably diseased. In pursuit of mercy for Gransys' people, he aids a cult -- Salvation -- in sowing dissent and leads a garrison to revolt, simply because it was convenient to his purpose: not believing Gransys' ruler, Duke Edmun, capable of defeating the Dragon and seeing no other way, he wanted to bring Gransys to a swifter downfall and make the men-at-arms turn and run rather than stand and die, which would then lead the people to flee, where they would at least escape with their lives. For his own homeland and people, he wanted them to preserve their strength rather than spend it futilely aiding Gransys, because the Dragon would not simply vanish it if was not defeated. He openly derides the cult's dogmatic delusions and takes no part in their heinous necromancies, but that does not negate his involvement. He wields truth as a honed blade, using it to cut deeply, such as when he attacks Mercedes by pointing out how she is a hollow homage to the ancient pact, mocked by everyone and only playing at knighthood rather than making any actual difference. He derides willful ignorance. He even callously insults Mercedes after defeating her in a duel during the revolt, because to him dousing her spirit and leaving her with little choice but to run back to her homeland, humiliated, is a better fate than her dying pointlessly for her excessive pride.

It might seem strange, then, that at his core he remains honourable. If bested then revived by the Arisen –- one fated to potentially slay the Dragon -– during the revolt and his duel with Mercedes, without prompting Julien acknowledges his utter defeat and turns himself into Gransys' court, where he confesses his crimes and faces the consequences of his choice instead of simply fleeing, but not first without warning the Arisen that the revolt he lead was but a diversion and that the cult's killing blow would happen elsewhere. He does not lie even to himself, and if the Arisen visits him in the dungeons, he explains not only his motives but confesses that coming to know the Arisen brought doubt to his cause, because he started to believe that the Arisen might actually defeat the Dragon – he does not shy from his genuine hope, though he calls it unwelcome, in the wake of his actions. Perhaps greatest of all is that despite his presumption –- he did try to shape the fate of a nation by what he felt was best for them, and though well-meaning it is undeniably arrogant -– he has the potential for real humility. If the Arisen romances him, when all is over, he states that though he has always followed a knight's path as he sees it, he is humbled by the Arisen, realising just how minuscule he is, and how petty in comparison the matters he concerned himself with were. Then he thanks the Arisen from his heart for doing so.

Powers: As a mystic knight who wields a mace and a magic shield, Julien has the following abilities beyond basic combat:-

Fire-/Ice-/Thunder-/Holy-/Darkcounter: places an enchantment upon his magic shield which lasts for 60 seconds. When he blocks attacks, it staggers back foes with mild elemental damage. A perfect block will directly conjure an attack dependent on the base element -- a small fireball for firecounter, a semi-circle wave of ice for icecounter, a small bolt of lightning for thundercounter, one holy beam for holycounter, and a minute patch of dark fog which has the chance to torpor (reduce movement speed by 50% for a short duration) for darkcounter.

Flame/Frost/Thunder/Blessed/Abyssal Riposte: an advanced form of the -counter enchantments, which persist for 120 seconds, and on a perfect block perform high versions of their additional elemental attack.

Holy Wall/Fortress: focuses holy power to form a broad magical shield in front of him. The wall of light blocks physical attacks, and allows him to block further attacks whilst still keeping his footing. A perfect block throws back foes. The advanced form, holy fortress, persists for a longer time.

Magic/Great Cannon: conjures a sphere of magical power which when struck it fires non-elemental spellshots at foes. Multiple cannon spheres can be summoned at one time to increase the number of shots fired -- four is the maximum number of spheres -- and they can be elementally charged*. Anyone can strike the sphere to send out spellshots. Magic cannon spheres last 12 seconds, whereas the advanced form, great cannon, lasts 18 seconds.

Perilous/Ruinous Sigil: implants a magic sigil into the ground. Any enemy that draws near is hit with a strong blast of energy. Nearby enemies are dealt, by default, non-elemental magic damage and smaller ones may be thrown into the air. This can also be elementally charged*. Ruinous sigil, the advanced form, covers a wider range and persists for longer.

Dark/Abyssal Anguish: while the enchantment is active, mace attacks create an extra tongue of dark energy, increasing his effective attack range and adding extra hits. Abyssal anguish, the upgraded form, will also create shockwaves of darkness which have good stun property and moderate range.

Holy Glare/Furor: conjures brilliant beams of light that seek out and smite enemies within range. He releases his shield, which floats in front of him while a lengthy startup charge takes place. At the end of it, a huge nimbus of interweaving magic lances fires in a large area around him, dealing heavy damage to every enemy in its radius. Because of its power, after the attack is completed he becomes fatigued for a short while. Holy furor, the advanced form, conjures mightier beams and remains active for a longer period of time.

Sanctuary: a passive ability. When health is critical, defense and magic defense is increased by 50%. This will become active outside of his magical form.

*To become elementally charged an elemental boon or an elemental weapon is required. For the sake of cooperation, I'm giving Julien no self-boons, so that this must be given by another character. His shield enchantment literally applies only to his own shield, and doesn't add any element to his mace or non-elemental magic attacks.

First Person Sample: 'Tis ill done to pay no heed to the plight of our community. Whate'er battle was fought last night, reconstruction can begin only after the debris is removed. In the spirit of kindness, I ask that you spare some of your time to aid in the clearing.

If you wish to volunteer, do not strike out on your own. The effort is organised into squads. Approach one and its leader will provide you with equipment and an assigned task.

We are grateful for all contributions.

Third Person Sample: In many ways, the task Julien had now was more difficult than working as the Night's Champion in Duke Edmun's court – one's identity was easy to conceal when there was not a vast chasm of cultural differences to contend with. It was peculiar that this land, so advanced in its machines, had an aversion – nay, a denial – of magic, which only fed into his concerns. Magic was a natural concept to him, openly embraced in his homeworld. So far the assumptions of others had aided him to a degree: his Voldoan accent had incorrectly been attributed to a land named France, which gave him a shallow cover that held at a passing glance, as it seemed a distant and unfamiliar enough place to excuse many of his missteps without any prompting on his behalf. Yet he was conscious of the danger in growing complacent. As one versed in diplomacy, Julien was well aware that language and culture was shaped by a countries' individual history; all it would take to break through his defence was a single genuine Frenchman, whom would quickly discover that he was not one whit French. Already his language was an issue: his turn of phrase and choice of words at times drew puzzlement and incredulity, and terms he thought common betwixt all men (healer, the Maker, ser) were in truth not so. But perhaps most damning of all evidence was his lack of prowess with the myriad of machines these people relied upon.

To that end, Julien began his research with the man whom shared his home. True to discipline, Julien rose at dawn, then washed and dressed and groomed himself before he stepped outside and paid visit to the shopkeeper selling a curious font of daily information, the newspaper. With his newspaper in hand he returned home, and settled himself upon a stool beside the kitchen to read. When the other man made his way into the kitchen a short while later, finally having woken, Julien discretely observed the workings of the devices within. He kept a drink of water and select fruit beside him which he periodically partook of to deflect suspicion, as well as to sate a portion of his appetite.

The other man's routine quickly became apparent as days passed, and some tasks were much simpler than others; Julien soon determined that making a pot of the unusual drink coffee at the right time, so that it was hot and waiting for the other man as he roused, was a small act of generosity well worth the effort for the disposition towards him it gained.

Even in this strange world, diligence and meticulous planning paid off -- a most welcome comfort, he confessed to himself.
